"Last stayed at the inn when it was the Phenix Inn. The hotel is looking great and the breakfast was wonderful. The new staff was so accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better stay."

"Love your historic Inn! This was our first visit to Maine and we loved everything about it. We enjoyed the art work in the lobby and the rooms were huge, plenty of room for our family to spread out. Being close to everything downtown, we never started our car until it was time to leave. We will definitely tell all of our friends to visit Bangor and stay with you."

"I have been to Bangor Maine twice now and both times I have stayed at the Charles Inn. Just booked my thrid stay today.
The rooms are great. The staff bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. Do not worry about where to go for breakfast you will have plenty to eat at the Inn. You are right downtown within walking distance of several restaurants. My seven year old grandson was on the last trip and he loved the Childrens Museum (which is a half a block away).
I highly recommend the Charles Inn. So you know my point of comparison my wife and I almost always stay at a Bed & Breakfast when we travel.

"What a wonderful place! Me and my fiance, Eric felt right a home. It was elegant and historic. What a great location. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Also, the dog was very very cute. Nice art in the gallery, and a very nice breakfast. I would go back in a second."

"Staying at the Charles Inn Hotel was a plesant experience. Great accomodations. The free breakfast every morning was lovely. Everyone there were so nice and polite . If you're not familar with the area, the Charles provides lots of information on where to eat, shop, moose watch or just to enjoy the great outdoors."

"Comfortable. Quiet, & Charming.
My wife & I work the Bangor area frequently and love the Charles Inn. After a good nite's rest, a morning walk with our dog around downtown before breakfast is a welcome treat. Our dog Bear loves playing with the house dog, Lacy. WIFI works well and allows us to stay connected.
Thanks!"

"Stayed at The Charles Inn in June/July 2007 and absolutely loved it! The hotel is great, very true to the time period. We enjoyed the breakfast and Connie was an absolute delight! Also, really enjoyed Lacey (sp?), Connie's daughter's dog who was very well behaved and soooo friendly and fun to play with. We will be back in September of this year (2009) to stay again and can't wait!!!"

"I enjoyed my first stay at the Charles Inn. As an artist, I really enjoyed the original art. Being right in the middle of downtown with all the shops and restaurants was nice also. The pleasant patio area with the fountain and sculpture outside provided an enjoyable atmosphere to just sit and chat. Every effort was mad to make my stay pleasant. I definitely intend to stay there, when I return to Maine."

"I truly enjoyed my stay at the Charles Inn. A few of the things I most enjoyed were the location of hotel, right downtown, walking distance to many wonderful restaurants & shops; My room was delightful and clean, furnished with lovely period pieces. The owner, and her staff were all very helpful and accommodating. I was traveling alone and felt very comfortable at this charming inn. Thank you!"

"My husband and I happily choose The Charles for our second stay in Maine- and were so glad that we did! First, and most important to me, was the cleanliness of our room-and of the entire hotel. Secondly, the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive- which made our week stay there even better. I felt the Charles was like staying at my Mother's or Mother,s-in-law house- clean, comfortable, lived in- the charm of being in a REAL persons house- not a 'cookie cutter ' type place. Bangor, by the way, is a vibrant place to stay -lots of artistic energy and it's close to attractions like Acadia. We hope to get back to Maine soon- and we would certainly go back to The Charles Inn."

"A thank you note to the owners and staff,
My friend and I had a delightful mini vacation in downtown Bangor this past U.S. Thanksgiving weekend as a much needed get away for us both. Well, we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Your inn is absolutely charming, your service wonderful and you and your staff so friendly and accommodating. Thank you again. We hope to stay with you again next year."

"I was in town on business for two weeks and opted to stay at the Inn for my second week - after having the Inn recommended to me while having dinner nearby at Paddy Murphy's. The Inn offered me the ability to walk the several blocks to work. The Inn had the charm and feel of a small European hotel. Accomodations were very good. This is not a high end boutique Inn - so you'll have to do without the huge list of cable channels - but it is very functional, clean, and had an ecclectic grace gained though its age. The building is over 100 years old and that is intriguing to me. i could easily have stayed a second week at the newer chain hotel before finding the Inn. The owner was on staff every day and thanked me everyday for staying at the Inn. Try it next time you're in Bangor. I intend to."

"We had an excellent stay in this unique hotel. Hotel is a bit older, but clean and very unique. Owners very friendly and helpful. Location is great. This is definitely not a Holiday Inn or some other cookie cutter hotel. Will stay here again next time I am in Bangor."

"My husband and I, we love this unique hotel! What a surprise to find such a wonderful place where my grand-mother would have loved to stay in her time!! It is full of historic details, it is old, but also very clean, the bath rooms are all new with wonderful hot water and the whole place has a very fresh, nice, bright color beige everywhere. The restoration of the whole hotel is marvellous because while being comfortable and new for the convenience of the customers it still has kept its old, historic atmosphere. It has a soul ! Just walk on this wonderful carpet, so warm and comfortable and in such a old style, old, but still very clean and beautiful, it must be because it is of a such high quality to start with ! We are very grateful to Bangor to have such a wonderful place for us to stay. Thank you to the owners! By the way, the lady at the reception desk is so nice and helpful, she gave us the most wonderful blanket made of silk and down for that night we just had last weekend in Bangor. Again, thank you to keep such a old historic place full of personality."
